Second Surgery Recovery Day 10: Jaw surgery before and after photos
I drove today for the first time since before my surgery. I have been off pain medication for at least four days, so I felt it was safe to get back to normal. I didn't have any issues with motion sickness or any near blackouts. We visited Balboa Park here in San Diego and parked at a busy Earth Day festival. I did feel hungry after about an hour, though I sipped on some water before returning home.
No nausea today. No new pain. I seem to be healing ok.
And now for some photo comparisons to show just how much easier this second recovery has been compared to my first surgery. Click to expand the images to their full-size.
Recovery following surgery one was extremely difficult. The image above showing "3 hours after surgery one" does not lie. I felt about as bad as anyone alive can feel.
See the remarkable difference? It's astonishing. My recovery following surgery two continues. This looks to thankfully be my final surgery. I'm healing fast and with my jaw being wired shut this time, I expect my jaws to remain perfectly aligned. I get my wires cut sometime between April 30th and May 6th. Then I begin the process of chewing on soft foods, which will be difficult at first. I hope to be back to pizza, burgers and tacos as soon as possible!
